We had this wicker table that Meg's parents handed down to us when we first moved in together. It used to have glass on top, but it broke so now it is just wicker. We decided we weren't really feeling the wicker anymore (years of wear and tear left a lot of missing or frayed strands) so we tore it off and tried something new. Check out the process below...
Before
Taking off the wicker...SO many staples
Sanding the new custom-cut oak tabletop from the one and only Home Depot
Wiping the first layer of stain off
2nd coat
After the 4th coat, before we wiped of the excess stain
Five coats of lacquer later....The finished product!
