Wedding Season 2017

We had such a fun-filled summer with lots of love to celebrate!!  Gregg had three cousins get married (see Nashville & Seattle posts) and we had three close friends' weddings.  Unfortunately, coming from the East Coast we weren't able to attend all of them :(

In mid-July Gregg flew back to attend his college roommate and fraternity brother's wedding in St. Helena. The groom had reserved an expansive compound for all the groomsmen to stay and enjoy swimming, volleyball, frisbee golf, fire pit, basketball, hot tubbing, horseshoes, BBQing, and a river float! It was a beautiful, HOT weekend full of fun activities and catching up with old college friends.

Such a beautiful celebration! The whole weekend was so much fun, it was great to be a part of it all. Gregg had just had nose surgery the weekend before and had been out at Rob's wedding the weekend before that, so there wasn't any more time he could take off.  Meg got into SFO on Thursday evening and drove first thing up to Katy's house on Friday morning.  From there, Katy, Kathleen and I went and got our nails done and picked up some coffee in downtown St. Helena.  Katy and Elliot had done such a great job planning and organizing, that all we had to do was show up for the events.

The rehearsal dinner was at Ad Hoc in Yountville.  They had quite the spread of their signature fried chicken, pizza, veggies, corn, etc.  I think everyone went back for seconds, and maybe thirds.

Saturday morning arrived and it was time for the getting ready process, which took place at the Harvest Inn, right down the road from Katy and Elliot's house!  It was a very fun and relaxing morning.  By 2pm it was time to head up to the house for pictures and for the celebration to ramp up!

The wedding ceremony and celebration were all on the property they live on.  Everything was so beautiful and came together so perfectly.  Katy and Elliot were quite the team and the perfect pair :)

I wish I had more pictures of all of our friends together.  It was so great to see the gang.

The end of August marked the last wedding of the season for us.  Meg had reconnected with her friend Lauren in NY after being friends at SSU.  Lauren and her fiance lived right around the corner from us in Park Slope, so Meg and Lauren would often get pedicures in the neighborhood on the weekend and talk wedding talk!

We headed up to Newport on Friday morning and arrived in Newport a short 4 hours later.  Meg had rented an AirBnB for us, her college friend Kirsten, and her friend, Gabby, which was a little tight (one bathroom with three girls), but worked perfect for what we needed for the weekend.  It was right in town, so we enjoyed grabbing lunch on the harbor and checking out the tourist shops on the main drag. It was very similar to the Newport, CA, that Meg grew up going to, except without the arcade Fun Zone :).

More lobster bake for Gregg! The night ended with a surprise fireworks show over the water.  It was the most spectacular rehearsal dinner!!

The next day, the bride and groom graciously set up a trolley ride for their guests.  For us it was a great way to see the town, the island, and get some historical facts too!

On our drive back down to NY we made a few stops, the first one being in Mystic, Connecticut.  This statue reminded us of Grandpa so we had to snap a pick.

Our second stop was at Meg's friend Amanda's house. Amanda and Meg were roommates in London during a semester abroad.  Her younger sister had just gotten married in Mystic that weekend, and her and her family were wrapping up the after party(s) back at their home in Waterford, just down the road.  Amanda's dad made some delicious pizzas that we could not resist and sent us home with homemade ice cream sandwiches.  It was really nice to see the Brax Family and catch up with Amanda :)

Summer of 2017 was a full of special celebrations! So glad to be a part of them!
